Nominated for an interior design award, this nature-inspired remodel’s intent is to be a warm and welcoming space for family and friends.
Everyone’s Considered
SoBo Homes enjoyed a natural harmony collaborating with this client, a family of six living in Boulder’s historic Chautauqua neighborhood. The homeowners wished to evoke emotions in the remodel with earthy, natural elements and visual movement through colors, patterns, and materials.
Enduring Organic Modern
While the aesthetic was organic modern, the function had to be classic and enduring to age along with four children ranging from toddler to teenager. This directive starts in the entryway where a custom built-in bench adorns a feather themed, jewel-toned wall decal.
A hall pendant in mixed amber and clear glass plays off kitchen island pendants, both conjuring a shape of pooled liquid.

In the kitchen, an oversized island with a prep sink provides abundant working space for multiple helpers. The natural quartz countertop was chosen for its vein’s movement and depth, sparking an energetic aura. Contrasting light and dark walnut cabinets are set off with satin gold nickel hardware.

Elevated Design Barn Door
Directly off the kitchen is a play and craft room. Utilitarian in purpose but a showcase feature of the kitchen, a handcrafted, galvanized metal barn door in warm brown hues conceals the wonderful messiness of the children’s room with a sophisticated, one-of-a-kind art piece.
The project turned out beautifully and has been nominated for a Luxe Red Award, recognizing residential elegance in design.
Both parties enjoyed the partnership and are now collaborating on extensive remodels to three bathrooms on the upper floor.
